Inspiration

We wanted to make a game which required physics to build. What better game to make and adapt than Pong!

What it does

WordPong allows you to play Pong against a computer, but to move your own paddle you need to enter a word that starts with a specified letter.

How we built it

We built this using Javascript, html and CSS. We also had to look back at our physics textbooks to revise forgotten formulas.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into were creating a list with all of the words between lengths of 4 to 8. This was especially hard, because we manually copy-pasted sets of words into a javascript list.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of the accomplishments that we're proud of is being able to apply our physics knowledge, translate math into code, and add a twist to one of the first ever video games.

What we learned

We learned a lot about web design, specifically CSS and how to use it efficiently. We also learned some new concepts in javascript along the way.

What's next for WordPong 2.0

We would like to add more power ups to the game. Some of these include a power up that slows the ball, freezes the ball and increases the score.
