Overview
Wordly is an engaging word-based memory game designed to challenge and improve your memory in a fun and interactive way. In each round, users are presented with five words, which are displayed for 10 seconds. After that, one word is replaced, and the goal is to correctly identify the word that was changed. In the following rounds, users will see the same set of words, but with the replaced word visible for just 7 seconds. They must then guess which word was replaced.

How I built it
I first thought about gameplay and elements I would like to include in this app. Then I understood the code flow & components in this template. I first made the game working in React and then integrated it with reddit.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I’m really proud of developing Wordly, especially considering how well it functions across different devices. The game works smoothly on both mobile and desktop screens, providing an enjoyable and consistent experience for users, regardless of the device they choose to play on. It’s rewarding to see my work come together in a way that delivers seamless gameplay on any screen size.
What I learned
While developing Wordly, I gained valuable experience in several key areas:
App Development on Reddit: I learned how to create an app within the Reddit ecosystem, leveraging its unique platform to enhance the user experience.
Integrating Redis: I explored how to integrate Redis into the app, which significantly improved performance by efficiently managing game data and real-time state updates.
Handling Game State: I honed my skills in managing and maintaining the game state, ensuring smooth transitions between rounds and a seamless user experience.
Animations for Engagement: I worked on animations to make the game visually engaging, adding an interactive and enjoyable element to the gameplay.
These experiences not only improved my technical skills but also gave me a deeper understanding of how to create dynamic, engaging applications.
What's next for Wordly
Currently, Wordly offers a single level of gameplay, but exciting future updates are planned to elevate the experience.
Theme-Based Word Lists: To keep things fresh and engaging, we’ll introduce theme-based word lists, allowing players to explore different categories and challenge their memory in various contexts.
Dynamic Time: As users progress through the game, the difficulty will increase with dynamic time adjustments, making the game even more challenging and rewarding.
Boosts and Power-ups: To give players more control over their gameplay, we’ll introduce boosts and power-ups. These will allow users to skip rounds or continue after making a wrong guess, ensuring they stay in the game and keep the fun going.
These upcoming features will further enhance the gameplay experience, making Wordly more dynamic, challenging, and enjoyable.
