Before starting to hack, I did my daily ritual of solving the daily wordle and I thought to myself "why can't I make something that can solve this for me?" It's not an especially useful app but it was definitely fun to make and I learned a lot.

What it does

The wordle solver gives you the first 2 words to type out and then tells you what to guess next until you complete the puzzle.

How we built it

I built the app entirely on React and used Firebase to host the application. This solver uses the list of wordle words and your previous guesses accuracy to find the next best guess for you, until you guess the right word.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into the issue of time, one that I couldn't outsmart or outrun. The submission deadline was quite early in the morning for me so it was a hassle but I got things (mostly) done. Also, the solver sometimes refuses to work on some words, I have yet to figure out why but it works at least 9/10 times.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to make this hack in about a day, and also just thinking of a random app idea and actually coding it about 24 hours later... it seems like a monumental task but when you break it down it's not too hard and every time I hack, I am awed by this same fact.

What we learned

This is my first time using firebase as well as creating a react app, I haven't used either before so it was quite cool to learn

What's next for Wordle Solver

I'll try to iron out the bugs, this will probably be solved by allowing for a bunch of non-wordle 5 letter words for intermediate guesses. I can also make this better (currently the solver averages a very steady 5/6), by using a better guessing method with information from previous words.
