Inspiration

I got hit with this idea while i was overthinking before sleeping lol. I remembered how when i was younger, i used to have this game called Unscramble, in which we had to choose random letter blocks and make something meaningful outta them. So that was my inspiration.

What it does

The android app that i've made, it gives you a random string of letters, and then you need to make a meaningful word of 4 letters or less using them. If you succeed, you'll move on to the next level, or else you'll be out of the game. Each level contains 1 point.

How I built it

I built it normally on my android studio using flutter. Moreover, i got a txt file from github which had a huge number of English words (more than 400k) so as to match them with the guess that the user will make during the game.

Functioning: It generates a random string of 4 letters. You need to make a word (2-4) letters long out of given string such that it makes sense. Then it'll match the word you submitted with a dictionary text file which is already converted into a string. If the word you formed matches with an actual word, you'll be promoted to next level. And that's how you'll need to increase your streak, hence increase your highscore. If you guess a wrong word, it'll take you back to level 1

Challenges I ran into

I'm had a tough time in getting my flutter app read the contents of a text file and match them. Though what i did was i converted that txt file into a string, that made my job easier,

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I've never made a game. I usually make general-purpose apps. So this was something new I made, and I'm proud of my work.

What I learned

I learned about new packages of flutter that i was unware about. I also learnt how to make UI better and soothing for the users.

What's next for Wordathon Game

I'll try to make this app an online multiplayer game, so that people from anywhere in the world can play it with each other :)
