Inspiration

All of us enjoy games in one way shape or form, and while talking we all resonated with the frustration of losing to a friend in iMessage games.

What it does

Our program allows you to input the letters provided for the Game Pigeon game WordHunt, and provides you with all the solutions.

How we built it

The program was coded in Java. We organized a dataset of words in the English dictionary into a trie for efficiency and optimization of search time and system resources.

Challenges we ran into

We originally wanted to create a website front-end portion, but all of us were inexperienced in that location. It wasn't until we had little time left that simply building a web interface using HTML/CSS/JS wasn't enough, but we would have to use a Java servlet. Although not impossible, learning and implementing one simply was not possible within our time frame.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

All of us only had a baseline understanding of Java and little-to-no understanding of data structures. So creating the trie to optimize our code (which used to take over 3 minutes to run) was a huge accomplishment for us.

What we learned

We learned the importance of planning ahead and doing our research before jumping right into the coding, as well as skills in out-of-the-box thinking and openness to new pathways to our goal.

What's next for Word Hunt Solver

Next, we want to focus more on the front end, to create an appropriate user interface to compliment our back-end.
