About the Project
Inspiration
I love solving word puzzles, and I’ve been playing games like this with my brother and cousin every day for a while now. It’s fun, keeps our brains active, and helps us stay connected even when we’re apart. That experience inspired me to create Daily Mix.
What I Learned
- Designing puzzles that are both challenging and fair
- Balancing game difficulty so it feels rewarding, not frustrating
- Writing clear instructions and thinking about user experience
How I Built It
The game was built as a word puzzle app where players must group 16 words into 4 categories. I focused on simple design and intuitive interactions:
- Generate a grid of 16 words
- Let players select words and submit guesses
- Provide feedback with hints and limited lives
Challenges
- Coming up with word sets that are fun but not too obvious
- Preventing ambiguity when words could fit multiple categories
- Balancing the “red herrings” to keep the game tricky but fair
There are 1,820 possible groups of 4, but only 4 correct ones — which makes the puzzle challenging and fun!
