Inspiration

We wanted to create an app where you can add in new items creating a database of foods to pick from when calculating your daily calorie intake. This would help eliminate the tedious task of writing down and managing your nutritional details or by memory, which can be difficult.

What it does

The user inputs food items along with the calorie amount, protein, sodium, fats, cholesterol and sugars. After adding these items the user can pick them out and input what they are in a day giving them their nutrients intake for a day.

How we built it

We built this using the code.org's app lab.

Challenges we ran into

After compiling all the info the user put in it was a challenge to get the total of nutrients once the user chose to calculate their nutrients intake. Additionally, we struggled to prevent users from entering the same item multiple times.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting the nutrients inputs from the meals, drinks and snacks to be sent to the drop down menu list. We also were able to solve the issue of having multiple repeating items, allowing the app to act as intended.

What we learned

We learned that it's not easy to program and design a complex program especially when working on it for multiple hours at a time. We also learned that in order to complete more impressive designs and features, it is important to have a firm understanding of the coding language and how you need to think about writing code.

What's next for Wookiee Wellness

There needs to be a greater push for nutritional health. Many people don't know what is best for their body and educating people about the benefits of a healthy diet the right way will improve the lives of many. Our program is only a tool to help those who are already educated, but in order to create a larger awareness for the importance of health, we must continue to focus on educating the people about how to eat and live healthily.
