Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came from thinking about making an all-in-one support extension to quickly do simple tasks that are available on Chrome. Tasks such as being able to send an email or quickly getting a summary in an article or simply just quickly looking for directions. There are tons and tons of tools out there that make users' lives easier and we figured that we wanted to do something of that sort as well. We wanted to have an extension where we have different options for a given highlighted text on the browser.

What it does

Our Clipboard AI allows users to quickly get a summary, get directions, or send an email that drafts a response based on texts that we highlighted. The user gets to choose the action based on the buttons that they click on.

How we built it

We built the project mostly utilizing the built-in Summarizer API, the Writer API, and Prompt API.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the big challenges that we ran into is overall figuring out what are some on the things that we need to use the API correctly. We kind of had to learn by trial and error and had to gathers keys and tokens as we are constructing this project; learning as we go.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of being able to implement something that is very simple and usable that even we will use ourselves on a daily basis. It gives us a sense of fulfillment; being able to complete a project and bring an idea to life.

What we learned

What we learned in this project is how robust Google Chrome is and how versatile it is with all the API's available. It's a very powerful tool and there exists a lots of projects that we could build in the future using Google Chrome and all the features available to it.

What's next for Clipboard AI: Chrome Extension to Boost Productivity

What's next for Clipboard AI is to add more features to boost productivity even more! Perhaps adding a Google Task creation feature or reminder and maybe being able to set up Google Meet. These are two features that we immediately thought about for future implementations.
