Inspiration

Inspired by our exchange travels and an upcoming graduation trip, we know that group travel can be chaotic. While friends may want to travel together, they don’t always want to do the same activities. Interests don’t always align, making coordination a challenge. That’s why we set out to solve this pain point - making it easier to plan and organize group activities while letting everyone choose what suits them best.

What it does

Wander Buddies takes the hassle out of trip planning, giving friends an easy and organized way to share activity ideas and inform everyone at once. You make the plans, and our platform makes it effortless to see who's in and bring the perfect group together for an unforgettable experience!

Each person can add an activity, and other parties in the group can indicate to the user if they are Going, Maybe or Not Interested at all. No more group chat confusion, or needing to nag with everyone is in the loop always.

How we built it

We built it using Next,js, Firebase, React and Vercel for deploying.

Challenges we ran into

API calls.....it didn't work some features 😱

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of trying out new technologies like Next.js and Firebase in building our backend.

What we learned

Next.js is a great backend technology, and eliminates the need for a formal middleware (will be using in the future 👀)

What's next for wander buddies

Using generative AI, we hope to seamlessly create itineraries that align friends' schedules, ensuring that non-overlapping groups participate in activities at the same time. This maximizes efficiency, minimizes downtime, and would aid in making the trip planning effortless.

As well, future features of wander buddies would include attaching inspiration videos/photos/blog posts for why the user wants to do the activity.
