Women in CS

Inspiration

"Closing the Gender GApp" - Smith President Kathleen McCartney spoke about the decrease in the the overall percentage of women in computer science in recent decades. We wanted to create a map that demonstrated this change over time with more clarity.

How it works

We used the library Bokeh do do data visualisation with Python.

Challenges I ran into

We ran into challenges with implementing the structures through which the data was represented on the map, and utilizing the hover tool to pinpoint specific locations.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud that we got the hover tool working, and could display the MIT data.

What I learned

We learned how to use Bokeh better!
