Improving Accessibility: The idea to make healthcare more accessible, especially for women and girls in remote areas, motivated the creation of a telemedicine platform. AI could bridge gaps where access to physical healthcare facilities is limited. Promoting Women's Health: The desire to address specific health needs of women and girls, including reproductive health, mental health, and general well-being, inspired the use of AI to provide personalized, real-time support. Breaking Stigma: Many women face barriers to discussing mental health or reproductive issues openly. AI tools provide a confidential, non-judgmental space to seek support and advice. Learning AI in Healthcare: Gained in-depth knowledge of how AI models like NLP and machine learning can analyze medical data, predict health risks, and provide personalized healthcare suggestions. Tech Stack Integration: Learned how to integrate various AI tools, cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud), and telemedicine services (video consultations, chatbots) into a single cohesive platform. Healthcare Regulations: Gained understanding of healthcare regulations like HIPAA and FHIR to ensure patient data security and compliance. User-Centric Design: Developed a deeper understanding of designing healthcare solutions that are easy to use and meet the specific needs of women and girls, including providing mental health support and ensuring accessibility. Challenges Faced: Data Privacy and Security: Ensuring compliance with healthcare data privacy regulations like HIPAA and FHIR was challenging, as it required implementing robust encryption and secure data storage. Personalization and Accuracy: Achieving accurate and personalized health recommendations was difficult, as it required continuous training of machine learning models on diverse datasets and making the models adapt to individual health needs. Emotion and Sentiment Analysis: Understanding and accurately analyzing emotions and mental health states through text, speech, or facial expressions was challenging due to the subjective nature of human emotions and varying expressions. Bias in AI Models: Ensuring AI models were free of bias, particularly regarding gender, ethnicity, and socio-economic background, was crucial. Ensuring fairness in predictions and recommendations was a significant challenge. User Adoption: Encouraging users (especially older women or those in rural areas) to trust and adopt AI-powered healthcare tools required overcoming technological and cultural barriers. Interoperability with Existing Systems: Integrating AI tools with existing healthcare databases and systems (e.g., medical records) posed challenges due to varying standards and protocols.
