Inspiration:
We were fed up with the scarcity of research on taboo topics like menstrual health and the challenges women face in finding credible information. Determined to break down barriers, we set out to create a solution. "Period." was born from a deep-seated need to make self-education on women's health issues more accessible and less daunting.
What it does:
"Period." revolutionizes research by organizing subjects into easily navigable subdivisions. Users can explore topics like menstrual health in-depth with freshly crafted wiki pages. With the ability to shuffle, backtrack, and bookmark pages, navigating research has never been easier.
How we built it:
"Period." was crafted using Svelte and Sveltekit, with the functionality powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 API. Countless hours of dedication and a commitment to learning new technologies brought this innovative platform to life.
Challenges we ran into:
Navigating our first solo hackathon and mastering new technologies like Sveltekit and GPT-4 API posed significant challenges. Despite the tight deadlines, perseverance prevailed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
"Period." seamless functionality reflects the initial vision, a testament to determination and hard work.
What we learned:
Every aspect of "Period." represents a learning opportunity, from mastering Svelte's intricacies to implementing APIs, enriching our skill set along the way.
What's next for "Period." :
Our next step involves enhancing the user experience through design upgrades. We aim to incorporate animations and other visually appealing elements to make navigating "Period." not only informative but also enjoyable. By prioritizing aesthetics and user engagement, we're committed to making research on women's health issues a seamless and pleasant experience for all users.
