Ok, so I get up one morning and hearing outrageous outbursts of people both on radio and social media about the over pouring of garbage and sewage systems around the city of Monrovia. I saw this as a major blow as this, especially looking at the huge impact it would have on human health and the environment.
I found out that there is a major gap between authorities responsible for clearing the garbage and the people in the communities. No reporting tool, delay from authorities due to limited workforce, hard to reach communities, no digital workflow, etc.
What it does
Raises an alert for the clearance of garbage and sewage in local communities. Serves as a digital tool between community dwellers and authorities responsible to keep the community clean and safe. Improves environmental health. Every issue is shared along with their location.
How I built it
I built it using React Native for mobile client and Flask for the backend. The images shared are stored in an S3 bucket and the backend deployed on Heroku.
Challenges I ran into
Get started and putting the pieces together.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting started with a digital tool that will help to improve the quality of health in local communities.
What I learned
A deeper understanding of React Native, AWS, Heroku.
What's next for Wolomapp
Deploying it to playstore and appstore and launching it.
