WolfHacks Hackathon 2021

Inspiration

We were inspired to create an environment where the energy is clean and pure. Where we do not have to worry about the horrible side effects of fossil fuels or global warming. We knew that we wanted to envision a world where the next generation didn’t have to have concerns about global warming as we did.

What it does

We have created a phenomenal power grid that is made up of 4 different types of renewable energy: Solar, Wind, Triboelectricity and Snow-TENG. These four factors generate energy on their own and then transmit the accumulated energy to the main generator which then supplies the power to the homes of everyone.

How we built it

As we were apart, we relied on technology to lend us a hand. We used the discord voice and text channels provided to relay ideas and communicate with each other. We used a website called CoSpaces to build the virtual model and tinkercad design of our concept, helping us grasp a better understanding of our ideas and flaws.

Challenges we ran into

As a group we faced multiple obstacles, all of which we found effective solutions to and kept our morale high. First, a participant arrived late, which led us to believe that we would be behind in our task. Regardless, we kept our mindset positive and continued working until the participant joined us. As soon as they reached us, we informed them of the situation and resumed our work. Another one of our challenges was the struggle of accessing EchoAR. At the beginning, we planned to use AR/VR technology to represent our solution. Unfortunately, we were unable to access the necessary resources to complete it with our given time. We decided to use a different platform to meet our needs. In conclusion, we worked successfully and learned a great deal from this experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of coming up with our own original solutions and ideas. Another accomplishment we are satisfied with is working under pressure and using time management. We were able to set a time limit and follow up accordingly to create the best possible results.

What we learned

We learned many different things in this Hackathon which include both hard skills and soft skills. Soft skills which were acquired in this process was to work under pressure, improve ourselves as presenters, Hard skills which were other skills which we grasped during the many workshops we attended, the power grid and new energy sources and other technical skills.

What's next for WolfHacks Hackathon 2021

To come back and accomplish more and be able to do things we did not get to do today. For example use our ar/vr skills to create a product where people can inhabit. While learning new aspects of STEM.
