Inspiration:
India has immense talent. The young generation has a creative and innovative mind backed by skills that make each of them unique in their way.
- Due to a lack of proper awareness of opportunities and no application that connects all types of tasks/job seekers.
- After spending a lot of their time, the applicants choose to go for a different kind of work.
- Employers also face tough competition in India while choosing the best candidates for a role because of the high number of applications.
What it does:
- Woinder - A web application that will allow employers to easily post about internship/job/freelancer openings and hire the best candidates without effort.
- Allow the applicants to get greater exposure and access to all kinds of jobs in one place.
- Allow the recruiters to easily post their requirements and shortlist the best candidates without much effort and time.
- Impact metrics - Time to Hire, Cost per hire, Quality of hire, Applicant satisfaction, turnover rate.
- To build these we used React, MongoDB, Node JS, and Microsoft Azure.
How I built it:
We used React to build the front end, MongoDB for the backend, Node JS for the server, and Azure for deployment. In this application, we are creating two interfaces for recruiters and applicants.
- Recruiter: The recruiters will be able to easily post their job openings, shortlist and keep track of the applications easily by choosing the number of rounds and updating accordingly.
- Applicant: The applicants will be able to apply for internships, freelance, and job opportunities and easily track their progress. Both the applicants and recruiters will be able to receive and upload documents and receive and give ratings for other users, and employers.

Challenges I ran into:
First of all, was coming up with the flow that would be the best solution to the problem and beneficial to both the recruiters and applicants. Then, I learned that React would be the best tech stack to go for building the solution. So, it was a bit difficult to learn but with the motivation to build something innovative, it became smooth. I learned to implement and overcame all the obstacles by searching through Stackoverflow, GeeksforGeeks, GitHub Issues, and other websites.
Accomplishments that I am proud of:
I am proud that I learned a new tech stack and could implement what I had thought into reality and create an innovative solution that will redefine how hiring takes place. I am also proud that I didn't give up and worked till the end.
What I learned:
I understood the meaning of a famous quote by Robert Frost “The best way out is always through". I learned to never give up and continue the learning, and creation process even though you face thousands of difficulties. I learned a new tech stack, how to be a better developer, and understand how the hiring process works behind the scenes.
What's next for Woinder:
Some features are not available yet:
- Hiring process timeline
- Upload and download documents easily
- Cancel application
I will work on these features and also host this website using Microsoft Azure to have scalability, and disaster recovery.
