Inspiration
The Pixar lamp inspired us. The idea of bringing magic to life, of bringing personality into robotics, was our biggest inspiration for this whole project.
What it does
Wobble Jr does mostly what Luxo Jr can do... within the realms of physics...
How we built it
4 Lowe's trips, 4 Home Depot trips, and a bunch of craft stores later...
Vlada focused primarily on code development, while Ben handled mechanical engineering aspects.
Challenges we ran into
Deciding on how to implement the hopping mechanism and understanding the documentation for the robot arm proved to be quite difficult.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Ben: I'm most proud of my CAD designs and time management when it came to designing and building the hopping mechanism.
Vlada: I'm most proud of my genuine learning during the whole project. No vibe coding, pure hacking things together, and a lot of grinding.
What we learned
We learned about gear ratios in fishing rods, RC cars, how to build a website using Flask, and how to program a RoArm M2 S through JSON commands.
What's next for Wobble Jr
We want to automate the hopping mechanism for Wobble Jr (turn him into Sturdy Jr)
