The Inspiration
WMG Academy has placements with JLR and Rolls-Royce, ties to the University of Warwick, and a real track record of placing students into engineering careers. Their website looked like it was built in 2017. Because it was. A 14-year-old scrolling on their phone would bounce in seconds. What I Built The centrepiece is a Career Personality Test where you answer a few questions, get back a personalised engineering archetype (The Systems Engineer, The Digital Builder, The Maker) with a real pathway mapped from WMG course to career destination. Around that: an outcomes dashboard, interactive Midlands partner map, student story wall, and a full mobile-first rebuild.
How We Built It I wrote a detailed specification prompt for Lovable, covering brand, page structure, and quiz logic. The personality test runs entirely client-side with weighted scoring across five archetypes, results saved in localStorage for returning visitors.
What I Learned Writing the prompt was the design process, every decision made explicitly before anything was built. The bigger insight: the original site was organised around the school's structure. The redesign is organised around one student question "Is this right for me, and what does it lead to?" That shift changes everything.
