I have always been fascinated by the idea of a world of wizardry. The mystery, the danger, the excitement. Well this hackathon has given me the opportunity to bring those ideas to life! I have been able to formulate a game where you can put your skills to the test by battling an AI in the ultimate duel to see who truly deserves the title of the best wizard in the universe! I was inspired by the Hogwarts Mystery game, which is this mobile game that I used to play when I was younger, where I had a character who could "cast" spells and I could learn how to become the best wizard in school. In order to bring my dreams to life, I was able to utilise the copilot feature in Virtual Studio Code and formulate the perfect "rock-paper-scissors"-like game in order to immerse players into the world of wizardry. With the AI features, I was able to create a game where the player chose to either cast a spell that was aggressive, sneaky or defensive, and depending what the combination was between the player and the AI opponent, the winner would strike health points from the loser. Copilot made quick work of my idea, while I was happy to help with the logistics of making sure the project was doable within the time parameters, while also having the right dialogue and a flow of gameplay that made sense to the player. I think that it was hard getting copilot to formulate the exact vision I wanted, because the software kept wanting to build a game that would take far too long that what I had time for. I am glad that eventually we worked together to come to a consensus and create a game that players will be able to enjoy forever!
