Inspiration

Wishopai started three months ago with only three lines of text written inside GPT-5.4.

The idea was simple: help small merchants create and operate online stores with artificial intelligence, even if they do not have technical knowledge, a large budget, or even a computer.

Today, Wishopai is a real AI-powered commerce platform with 90 active stores, around 35,000 products, and almost 23 million Argentine pesos in sales, close to 18,000 US dollars.

It was built and operated by one human operator, from a Dell Latitude E7470 with a 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. No large team, no big office, and no expensive hardware. Just one person, one laptop, and OpenAI acting as a complete execution team.

What it does

Wishopai allows merchants to create online stores, publish products, generate commercial content, receive customers, and operate their business with AI assistance.

The platform includes AI-powered online stores, AI Web Master, voice-powered AI assistance, AI product publishing from photos, a global marketplace, POS and business management, and a Windows POS version with its own local installer.

During OpenAI Build Week, Wishopai evolved from an AI store platform into a complete commerce operating system.

How we built it

OpenAI was used both to build the project and to power the product itself.

ChatGPT, GPT-5.4, GPT-5.5, and Codex helped define the product, pricing, sales strategy, SEO strategy, technical architecture, marketing direction, code, testing, debugging, and expansion plan.

During Build Week, we built three new pieces of software in less than five days:

  1. Wishopai Global Marketplace: a discovery layer connected to a real network of 90 active stores and around 35,000 products.
  2. Wishopai POS and Business Management: an online system for managing products, stock, customers, sales, orders, cash flow, users, and daily business operations.
  3. Wishopai POS for Windows: a local desktop version with its own Windows installer, designed for physical stores that need a real point-of-sale system.

The AI inside Wishopai is also powered by OpenAI, helping merchants create stores, generate content, improve products, answer customers, publish products from photos, and operate their businesses.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was building real software fast while already operating a live commerce platform.

Wishopai is not a closed demo environment. It has real stores, real products, real customers, real revenue, and real merchants using it. Every technical decision had to be careful because the system was already connected to real business activity.

Another challenge was turning the POS into more than a simple checkout screen. The goal was to build the operational core of a business: online sales, in-store sales, products, stock, customers, orders, cash flow, reports, and daily management in one system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Wishopai is already helping local merchants sell online. Some customers do not have computers. Some are older merchants. Some manage everything only from a mobile phone.

They do not need to understand servers, plugins, hosting, design, SEO, or code. Wishopai gives them a way to sell online, receive orders, show their products, and participate in the digital economy with the tools they already have.

We are proud that Wishopai is not a mockup. It is a real company with 90 active stores, around 35,000 products, almost 23 million Argentine pesos in sales, partners preparing to earn money with the platform, and real software built with GPT.

What we learned

We learned that OpenAI can dramatically reduce the distance between an idea and a real operating company.

GPT did not only help write code. It helped think, decide, organize, sell, explain, debug, and execute. In a way, GPT became the operational CEO, and I became the cofounder executing every step in the real world.

We also learned that AI can activate local economies by giving small merchants, agencies, and independent partners access to technology that used to require a full engineering team.

What's next for Wishopai AI Commerce OS

The first functional version of Wishopai POS is complete. The next stage is real-world iteration: fixing flows, improving features, and adapting the system with real users operating on it.

The POS already has its first real customer waiting to load business data and start operating. The goal is to have the first real user selling with the system on Monday, and between five and ten real users operating by Friday.

Wishopai proves what OpenAI can unlock: one person, one laptop, one idea, and AI powerful enough to turn that idea into a real company serving real businesses.
