Inspiration
When thinking about the components of an arcade and how they work, discussion lead to the line of thinking that rats are well-known for chewing through wires.
What it does
Allow players to navigate through obstacles and platform their way to the end.
How we built it
With our blood sweat and tears and cans upon cans of energy drinks
Challenges we ran into
There were issues with gettng the javascript to work, as well as issues with the resolution/cropping of certain assets not lining up properly. There were entre aspects of the game that had to be scrapped because we couldn't manage to iron it out in time. We still ended up wasting several hours on a feature that didn't even make it into the end game. A teammate contributed in the early stages of development but had to leave the group early, our final project ended up not implementing most of his code, however it remains in the games files.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We spent a lot of time on the art and it turned out really well. After a lot of trial and error we finally were able to get the more complicated aspects of the gameplay mechanics to work. We were able to finish in time even though we had numerous setbacks.
What we learned
It's good to be ambitious but we also need to be realistic. We shouldn't be discouraged if something isn't working out, but we have to understand and accept that sometimes an idea won't work out as planned and move on.
What's next for Wires
May or may not refine the code later to work closer to the way that it was originally intended. Specifically, we would like to have it up and running on the web on itch.io so that anybody can play it without having to download it. At the moment the code isn't exactly set up to run for web, but it's definitely something that we intend to fix.
