What is the problem your solution addresses?
This new digital age has allowed people to stay connected in many ways outside of physical boundaries. For the creative community, in particular, there are now more opportunities to collaborate and share their endeavors. However, all creatives, regardless of their expertise and experience, will at some point face mental barriers that prevent them from exploring their fullest creative potential. These mental barriers often include imposter syndrome, pressures of perfectionism, and creative blocks. While the digital age has brought platforms to share art in various forms, these platforms have inadvertently created pressures on creatives to showcase only what they have deemed as their best-completed work. Our solution addresses this issue by creating a space that empowers creatives instead.
Why did you pick this solution, and how does it address the problem?
We came up with a conceptual app called "wip it!" that serves as an empowering space for creatives. “wip it!” does so by encouraging creatives to embrace their “WIPs”, or work in progress. By prompting users daily to post content that is a WIP, “wip it!” provides users a casual way of posting their creations without the pressure to post their best, completed works. All creative work, whether from a professional or novice, is welcomed and valued equally in “wip it!”, building a supportive community of creatives. In “wip it!”, creative work goes beyond conventional standards, leaving the definition of “creativity” up to interpretation. Users can post any creative projects, from a gorgeous graphic to a beautifully baked baguette. Through “wip it!”, creatives can explore and reach their full potential, growing and learning daily from each others’ WIPs, backed up by a welcoming community without any judgment.
