Inspiration

We wanted to combine the old, outdated campus room maps with the online map (GPS) services like Google Maps. Currently, there are no GPS map services that are effective enough in short ranges, like inside buildings, which can solve the issue that college students face when trying to find room numbers.

What it does

ARrive serves to solve that issue with Augmented Reality (AR) by taking the visual data around the user, paired with the university's submitted data. The user can specify a room number and the building they want to find.

How we built it

We built it with Figma and designed it with reference to other existing map services like Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps. We used ChatGPT for the generation of the AR mockups. As per the Creative Commons 4.0, we want to attribute Theofani Samuel for the UI elements on the splash page. We changed the color. https://www.figma.com/community/file/1220277336301058509

Challenges we ran into

We are all relatively new to Figma and UI/UX Design as a whole, which hinders our speed/efficiency.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For being new to UI/UX design, our UI for ARrive surpassed our expectations in quality. It surpassed our expectations because it ended up being visually cohesive and impactful.

What we learned

We learned about the intricacies of each GPS map service and the features that they include.

What's next for ARrive

Including more information about students' schedules, implement the entire backend/frontend, and make a fully functional app.
