Inspiration
When our girlfriends ask us "Don't we have time for them?" and our response is a beautiful curt "No.", we realized something had to change. So being the devs we are, we spun up Wingman AI - something we imagine can help us be better Significant Others and ensure health relationship patterns while sounding cute
What it does
Schedule dates based on favorite cuisines, reminders for birthdays/anniversaries/important work events and customized gift giving options based on one of 5 love languages that suits you best. You get scheduled custom messages for reminders and instant custom profile generation on the website
How we built it
For our Backend, we integrated Twilio (for messaging), Open AI's GPT 4 (for custom LLM recommendations), Postgres (for database storage, scale up planned to Azure), Flask (for API integration) and envisioned integrating Hume (For emotional understanding and interpretation of messages)
For front end we used HTML, CSS and SCSS using inspiration from Webflow and other projects online
Challenges we ran into
*Many. *
On the back end, limitations with free twilio account and managing numbers. It was also our first time using Flask, especially within a limited website which made it more challenging.
On the front end, understanding Open AI integration with WebFlow was pretty hard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building an actual use case for digging gold instead of just the shovels (abstracted dev tools). Getting a 10/10 from the mentors we surveyed and attendees we asked was definitely a plus.
We started with a team of 4 developers but two of them split off late yesterday. Given the challenge and complete pivot, we are proud of what we put together in ~16 hours
Seeing real life integration including Twilio messaging was a huge plus. Creating the website in HTML in such a short span albeit with a Webflow start was fun.
What we learned
Importance of learning on the job - Newer front end skills, make.com integrations and using Anyscale taught us a lot of new use case integrations even if not perfectly
Thinking product first - We started with an end result and then integrated features like messaging and reservation booking onto our platform. This was a significant thought process change from the usual hackathon mindset and it was super helpful
What's next for Wingman AI
All in One networking tool manager. With an investment, we can scale it up to multiple use cases (Rolodex AI for managing relationships/reminders with your contact list, Wingwoman AI, Relative AI) as well as adding newer features (love languages, shopping suggestion integration, cleaner network, customized compliments, Pinterest/Instagram integration)
