Inspiration

We faced many lifestyle changes due to the pandemic, one of them being learning how to interact with people through voice calls instead of face to face interactions. We understood this and wanted to provide a tool to improve a social distancing person's quality of life.

What it does

Essentially, this project is a Bot that listens to your voice calls and analyzes the main talking points of the conversation. When the conversation goes stale, the bot has you covered! It would detect awkward pauses and provide related talking points to the members of the voice call.

How I built it

We used DiscordJS to create the client (a Discord Bot). We used Google Cloud to understand voice calls and analyze the main talking points. Furthermore, we generated talking point suggestions, by analyzing current events with a free News API.

Challenges I ran into

Having to learn how to make a Discord Bot from scratch.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Being able to accurately detect awkward pauses.

What's next for Wingbot

Implementing features that allows the user to have more control of the bot's capabilities. Additionally, we want to incorporate a feature that gives a "TLDR" of the online conversation.
