Inspiration
One of our team members found inspiration to delve into the realm of scientific exploration by embarking on a project centered around a two-degree-of-freedom piezoelectric wind harvester. The notion of harnessing wind energy to power IoT devices ignited our curiosity and motivated us to delve into this exciting endeavor.
What it does
Our project, WindWise, is an innovation designed to generate electricity from the power of the wind. It serves the vital purpose of supplying energy to IoT devices, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
How we built it
The journey of creating WindWise involved a multifaceted approach. We harnessed our engineering skills and expertise in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) by utilizing SolidWorks to craft the intricate design. With a lot of determination, we embarked on a continuous overnight 3D printing process using our 3D printers to bring our concept to life.
Challenges we ran into
Our journey was not without its share of challenges. Initially, we were inundated with a multitude of ideas, each brimming with potential. However, through some testing and discussion, we arrived at our prototype.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Some of our most significant achievements during this project include the successful design and printing of a prototype and coding a realistic simulation within a mere 48-hour time frame. This accomplishment speaks to our dedication, teamwork, and proficiency in the fields of engineering and physics.
What we learned
Our WindWise project was a transformative learning experience for our team. We conducted research and gained insights into piezoelectric wind harvesting. Beyond technical knowledge, we honed our skills in effective teamwork, pitching our ideas, and navigating the multifaceted challenges that emerged throughout the project.
