Inspiration
In Latin America, only 21% of entrepreneurs are women, and although 33% have the desire to start a business, 70% face significant difficulties in accessing financing. In addition, in countries like Mexico, 63% of women who do not use the Internet report that the lack of necessary knowledge is the main reason for this disconnection. WINAYA was born out of the need to empower women entrepreneurs, facilitating their access to financing, technological knowledge and support networks.
What it does
WINAYA is an AI-powered digital platform that offers female entrepreneurs financial advice, marketing and market analysis, all in one place. It also promotes leadership through workshops taught by the users themselves and a badge system that recognizes their achievements and strengthens their track record for obtaining financing. In addition, WINAYA allows female entrepreneurs to access networking events and collaboration opportunities.
How we built it
WINAYA was constructed using a robust technology stack aimed at optimizing performance, scalability, and user experience. The frontend is built with React, providing a dynamic and responsive interface. The backend is powered by Node.js, ensuring efficient handling of requests and smooth integration with the frontend. For deployment, the project leverages the infrastructure of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), utilizing Cloud Run to deploy the backend seamlessly and Cloud SQL with PostgreSQL for managing and storing data reliably. Furthermore, the AI capabilities of WINAYA are enhanced using Gemini, which powers the platform's intelligent agents to offer tailored insights and recommendations.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges such as integrating multiple functions into a user-friendly and accessible platform for users with different levels of technological experience. Creating a badge system that was more than symbolic and could truly reflect the commitment and competencies of female entrepreneurs was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have developed an inclusive platform that empowers female entrepreneurs. Creating a badge system that not only motivates but acts as a verifiable record of learning and achievement, has been a major breakthrough. We also highlight the implementation of community workshops, which foster leadership and strengthen the support network among users.
What we learned
We learned the importance of combining technology with a community-centered approach. The development of WINAYA taught us that the most effective tools are those that not only offer technological solutions, but also create a space for the personal and professional development of users.
What's next for WINAYA
Our next step is to develop advanced dashboards that allow entrepreneurs to visualize and analyze the sales data generated by their businesses. We also plan to strengthen our collaborations with organizations that support women entrepreneurs, offering more resources and opportunities to boost their growth. In addition, we are planning on creating a mobile application for WINAYA, which will facilitate access and interaction with the platform. In the long term, our vision is to turn WINAYA into a global platform that continues to promote gender equality and empower women entrepreneurs in all facets of their professional and personal development.
