Inspiration

Our project is inspired by a trip that we visit the zoo in Ho Chi Minh city. At that trip, we see a lots of animals with their cutiness, however, when we know the information about the existence of them, we feel dissapointed with the way someone treat with them, how can they catch, kill them to get some organ for their profit. That is the reason why we want to participate in ZOOHACKATHON 2021 to make change for the better in the war against animal trafficking.

What it does

project WildGogh aims to automatically detect posts on social media and e-commerce platforms from “crawler” bots and user reports, and apply machine learning to give a verdict on whether a post should either be ignored, deleted or interfered. This information is then sent back to authorized personnel to prevent those behaviors. The system also remembers the pattern of banned accounts, and trains itself to predict potential users within popular groups that promote illegal animal trafficking.

How we built it

using APIs and machine learning, we have automated the process of detecting illegal animal trafficking in a very reliable method. Also, we've used TypeScript and ReactJS to build a website where people can look up what we've done and how we've done it, and to participate with us in reporting illegal animal trafficking.

Challenges we ran into

As a team of 4 people, we have found it very difficult to communicate with each other and gather our knowledge to create a useful product in such a short period of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have made an automated surveillance service that can connect with different social platforms to keep track of individuals that are participating in illegal animal trafficking activities, along with a website and browser extension to help users understand the importance of preserving wildlife and how they can be a part of our team.

What we learned

We've learned to work as a team to create useful products that can make a change in the world

What's next for WildGogh

We want to further connect with other social and e-commerce platforms to widen our surveillance scope and work with government and law enforcement officials to use our product in the war against illegal animal trafficking.
