About the Project

🌸 Inspiration

This project was inspired by my wife, the founder and creative force behind Wildflowers Interiors—a high-end interior design studio that creates stunning, customized spaces for demanding, detail-oriented clients. While the results are beautiful, the behind-the-scenes process is a complex blend of creativity, logistics, and precision.

Watching her manage clients, teams, vendors, budgets, and timelines—all while trying to stay creatively inspired—made one thing very clear: the existing project management tools were not built for interior designers. That gap is what inspired us to create something better.

💡 What it does

Designer Workshop is an all-in-one platform built specifically for interior designers. It helps them:

  • Plan and manage projects from concept to install
  • Track tasks and time effortlessly
  • Handle client billing and budgets in one place
  • Stay organized with quick, visual overviews of everything that matters

Unlike general tools, Designer Workshop combines project management, task tracking, billing, and time management in one beautiful, user-friendly interface made for creative professionals.

🛠️ How we built it

We started by interviewing interior designers—our first user being my wife—to identify the core pain points in their daily workflows. From there, we designed a custom platform with:

  • A visual-first UX, built with simplicity in mind
  • Modular tools for task management, vendor tracking, and project milestones
  • Integrated billing, time tracking, and client communication
  • A backend built to scale with future integrations like product sourcing or calendar syncing

We kept iterating based on real feedback from designers who used the early version in active projects.

⚠️ Challenges we ran into

  • Balancing structure and flexibility: Too much structure overwhelmed designers; too little made the tool ineffective.
  • Feature overload: Many existing tools failed because they were bloated. We had to be ruthless about what features to include—and how to design them so they worked intuitively.
  • Keeping it beautiful: Designers have high aesthetic standards, so the interface had to be visually appealing without sacrificing speed or simplicity.

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a product that interior designers actually enjoy using
  • Designed a workflow that reduces time spent managing projects by up to 30%
  • Received positive feedback from professionals who said it helped them “finally breathe again” during busy projects

📚 What we learned

  • Tools must speak the language of the user—general solutions just don’t cut it for creative professionals.
  • Small UX details make a massive difference. Something as simple as drag-and-drop task reordering saved hours.
  • It's not just about features—how fast, how intuitive, and how elegant a tool feels matters just as much.

🚀 What's next for Designer Workshop

We’re planning to:

  • Add integrations with sourcing platforms and invoicing tools
  • Launch a mobile version for on-site project updates
  • Offer templates for different types of projects (e.g. kitchen remodels, new builds, commercial spaces)
  • Build a designer community inside the platform to share tips, vendors, and inspiration

The long-term vision? Become the creative operations hub for interior designers around the world.
