  Using Node RED

Inspiration

The severity of wildfires is mostly caused by a lack of prevention and a lack of funding for the victims. A simple, effective solution addresses both.

What it does

When the IoT device, powered by IBM Watson, Cloud, and Node RED, detects a wildfire, a social media message is sent to those nearby. Then the IoT device scans social media for posts regarding donating to the victims of the wildfires.

How we built it

It was built using Node RED to run on IoT devices.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted more time to be able to build a hardware prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were introduced to a wide range of IBM products and services that can be leveraged to save lives.

What we learned

We learned how to use Node RED among other IBM products and services. We gained from the perspective of first responders.

What's next for WildFire Alert

Collaboration with government and non-government organizations dedicated to reducing the severity of wildfires.
