Inspiration
We were inspired by the Gamepigeon game, Paintball, on iMessage. We wanted to create a fun, charming, and interactive game that resembles it, but with a western spin.
What it does
You control a cowboy that can move between 3 barrels for cover and choose one of 3 separate barrels to shoot at. You are playing against a wanted criminal NPC that uses a random number generator to select their own barrel to hide behind and shoot at. You and the NPC each have 3 hearts and you win if you can deplete all of the criminals hearts before they deplete yours.
How we built it
We used python and Pygame for the code and then Piskel, Figma, and pixil.art for the graphics. We used live share to collaborate and write the code.
Challenges we ran into
We had no front end experience or history with Pygame and learned it all in the process of making the game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing the game, it functions correctly, and it looks appealing.
What we learned
How to use Pygames, take in user interactions, game loops, and animation.
What's next for Wild West Shootout
We're going to implement two player and optimization of the code.
