Inspiration

Wild West Panic is, above all, a story of passion and a return to our roots. Several years ago, we created the very first version of the game for the Oculus DK2. Originally a simple demo, it quickly won over players during VR events thanks to its instant fun and unique, lighthearted western atmosphere. Today, we wanted to give it a second life by adapting it for the Meta Store. Our mission: to preserve the simplicity and instant fun of the original version, while adding a modern touch and genuine replay value.

What it does

Wild West Panic is a fast-paced VR shooting game that puts players in the boots of a cowboy from the Far West. It’s designed to deliver instant fun and accessibility, you shoot, score, and challenge yourself to improve with each round !

• Simple to play, hard to master: perfect for newcomers and competitive players alike.

• Immersive 360° environments where enemies appear all around you.

• Seven replayable levels, each with unique bosses and scoring mechanics.

• A non-violent, colorful western world focused on skill, precision, and fun. In short: Wild West Panic introduces players to the thrill of VR through pure, fast, and addictive arcade action.

How we built it

We carefully observed player behavior in VR arcades. Our finding was clear: the most memorable experiences are those that are immediately understandable and deliver instant enjoyment. That’s how Wild West Panic was born a hyper-casual VR game with intuitive, accessible gameplay that still offers two layers of depth: • Easy to pick up for newcomers, • Challenging for experienced players who want to beat their high scores, uncover hidden bonuses, and master each boss’s unique mechanics.

Artistically, we chose a non-violent, stylized, and colorful world. The goal: to create an all-ages and fluid experience, where the pure joy of aiming, shooting, and improving takes center stage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This project marks a key milestone for our team, it’s our first publication on the Meta Store.

What we learned

This adventure allowed us to understand and master several essential tools and systems of the platform:

• Meta Audio SDK, using spatial audio to locate enemies in 3D space,

• Leaderboards and achievements, creating engagement and progression systems,

• The complete submission and publishing process on the Meta Store, from development to validation.

What's next for Wild West Panic

The Wild West Panic adventure is just beginning. We are already working on multiple improvements to enhance gameplay and strengthen community engagement:

• Voices, music, and immersive sound effects,

• Global leaderboards and score sharing,

• New maps and bosses with unique mechanics,

• A customization shop (hats, weapon skins, and more) unlockable through player scores,

• A cyclical map system: each day, one map opens while another closes, resetting its leaderboard and rewarding the best players,

• The creation of an active community around the game,

• And a multiplayer mode.
