The American Prairie is a foundation set in Montana who aims to rebuild the American Serengeti. We were deeply inspired by their mission to restore the land, and wanted to apply our knowledge.

The Wild Sky program is from the American Prairie, and the program aims to reward ranchers for making their land more suitable for the wild life. This program has already done great things, but we wanted to ease the process by making a web tool to help persuade ranchers by showing them what kind of incentives they could be eligible for based on their land.

For this project, wee built it using the react framework. Additionally, one of the biggest challenges we faced was data collection, our main source of information was the Wild Sky webpage, which was insightful but still left us with some unanswered questions. On top of that we had to spend quite some time familiarizing ourselves with the farming practices and the biodiversity of Montana to ensure our product would be effective. Once the research and data collection was done, we faced minor hurdles along the way as we coded, but the initial data collection was by far the most rigorous part.

We're proud that our product has so much potential for real world use, and it's impact could lead to great things for the preservation and restoration of our planet.

We learned a lot about farming practices, and the current obstacles that stand in our way when it comes to the restoration of the Great Plains. We also learned a lot about making a cohesive web application that hosts seamless communication between the front end and back end.

Refining the estimation tools with more information through collaboration with the Wild Sky program. We would like to expand the Wild Life Incentive program outside of Phillips County, MT. Hoping this project expands to counties across the Great Plains.
