The bad WiFi at UC Berkeley

What it does

Through crowdsourcing, we compiled a database of real-time WiFi speed in various locations around campus. Students report their WiFi speed by going on the website and clicking on the button on the main screen. Their respective WiFi speed automatically gets recorded and saved on the database.

How we built it

Utilizing a serverless clustered database to store our collected data, and Microsoft Azure APIs to achieve an impeccable cloud computing experience.

Challenges we ran into

Running CockroachDB from Azure Function endpoints.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making Azure Functions endpoints work with CockroachDB

What we learned

We learned about cloud computing.

What's next for WiFi-CrowdSourcing-WebApp

We hope to integrate it over more areas than just the Berkeley campus as well as provide a more accurate and widespread heat map.
