Inspiration

2000's era software, featuring appropriate designs and styles to fit. To show the ease of hacking simple internet bystanders when you're already established or have backlogs already built. But to show that furthering hacking or scamming can find you in bad situations with, potentially, the wrong people.

What it does

Allows you to complete various simple tasks, themed around the idea of hacking or scamming someone. Mainly focused on typing. Ideally we wanted to create more unique, and interactable tasks. Though as ideas got developed and we got hung up on things we didn't anticipate would take too long (Alongside sleep deprivation aha), We settled on a more simple task system.

How we built it

We assigned important tasks to begin with. Ensuring that, as one team member builds the foundation of the code, another would focus on conceptualising the design, how everything would be presented, and setting up elements to be ready for when the other teammate needed it!

Challenges we ran into

The UI. The entire project is basically in Unity UI elements. Although UI are finicky, with a lot of confusing settings and options that make simple changes or wants a nightmare!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Pulling it together in the end. I think ultimately what we have is charming! Sure it's not massive, but that's what gamejams are for. There is certainly room for improvement, more features, and further story development. But for now, I'm just happy I got to take part, and more happy I have something to show from it!

What we learned

Working in a team! It's a good experience to finally work side-by side making a game as one. It's a valuable experience that'll help further growth into the appropriate fields.

What's next for WIDOWS64

I think further development of this game would be interesting, especially given the awesome styling and theme and concept. Hopefully in the future we'll return to this project with new ambitions and not a daunting time pressure and with an adequate amount of sleep! All in all, whether the day comes, I see a future where this game is brought to a more complete state, and I hope to see that date!
