Inspiration
We decided to do the sponsored project as it was for helping community. The creole community needed help figure out which food items were included in the WIC program
What it does
This is an application to scan item to see if it's cover by the wic program, it's center on the accessibility of the creole community. It uses text to speech to figure to make it more accessible to the community since not all people included in this program are literate.
How we built it
We used Android Studio for our IDE and a database. We used Supabase to set up the database and get it working.
Challenges we ran into
Learn how to use the scanner and link the database to the client.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing a decent number of functionalities.
What we learned
How to work as a small group and a good number of skills in mobile development.
What's next for WIC Application.
There is a possibility to keep working on additional features such as adding computer vision to figure out the items directly instead of barcodes
