Inspiration

A friend let us know about this contest because “this has your name on it.” We agreed! It’s right up our alley. I’m a former scientist who practiced microbiology and biochemistry and now a children’s writer. Kris Manning is a brilliant artist and musician who also works with kids.

What it does

Knowledge is power. This book will help children to understand what we are facing today, how to move forward.

How I built it

I wrote the text. Kris Manning made the art. We put it together.

Challenges I ran into

The short deadline meant we couldn’t fuss with it. We both have families who need to be fed and watered. And uploading this was also a challenge. I didn’t realize I’d have to fill this out. Haha.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Doing what I love best—being a writer-mama!

What I learned

That we can work hard and fast and make a beautiful book.

What's next for Why in the World?

We hope many children get to read it, feel empowered by the knowledge they gain, and be inspired to make many small acts of kindnesses.
