Inspiration
After learning that there are loopholes in the 13th amendment, we wanted to share resources and information to inform the public in an aesthetically pleasing way.
What it does
It allows the user to search certain companies to see if they use, or had a history of using prison labor. It also provides sources/petitions and suggestions for the user to be an informed consumer.
How we built it
We used html/css and javascript for the web components. For all the images and design elements we used clip studio paint to draw them.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues formatting the website and designing it because we are novices.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our search function because the javascript took a while to learn.
What we learned
We learned that many companies we support are not principled and contribute to racial and social inequality. We also learned how to design a website in a thoughtful way.
What's next for whodoneit-
We want to include more brands and have more sources to educate the masses. We also want to add an element that allows you to automatically email your states' representatives when indicated a state to urge them to stop supporting contractors of prison labor.
