Inspiration

If you're in a large remote organization, finding a knowledge expert can be the most difficult part in solving a problem.

What it does

  • Provides an interface to tag Slack users with bits of information.
  • Once tagged, these tags can be surfaced as a way to search users.

How we built it

This was my introduction to the Slack API system. It was built using a build/learn/refine methodology to determine the API's limitations & provide the best UX.

Challenges we ran into

  • Would be a much nicer implementation if the profile UI were extensible via the API.
  • Debating how to best advertise the system to users to drive discovery (when they're first tagged? as a daily digest? make it configurable?)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Gaining an understanding of the boundaries of the Slack API & its UX possibilities.
