Inspiration
This was inspired by the SnowIQ problem from EastBanc Technologies.
What it does
Best Path for Montgomery, Maryland finds the most efficient snow plowing routes for different depots across the county using data from previous seasons. It will then tell the almost efficient route numbers from best to worst.
How we built it
We used a web application named Repl.it to work together and edit out files. We also used an application called Jupyter. We used HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Python to create this application.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into plenty of challenges while developing this application. First up was the large amount of data we had to analyze. We had to examine data like routes, plowing data, and many parameters within that data. Also, we also had a bit of trouble translating the data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to take a large amount of data and compile it so that our users can understand it, and that users can be informed of the best routes for snow plowers.
What we learned
We learned how to use large amounts of data and compile it into an application to make it easier for users to see and use that data.
What's next for Best Path
We want to implement this application for other counties across Maryland, and other states if possible.
