Inspiration
Inspired by the traditional “Who’s the Spy” board game, which typically involves four players: 1 Spy 3 Civilians
We transform it into a single-player experience, where the human player acts as the judge, observing all players' (the computer) descriptions and determining who the spy is.
What it does
We transformed the classic social game into a single-player experience. The player acts as a "Judge" to observe 4 computer players and find the hidden spy by reading their descriptions.
How I built it
We used React and Vite to build the game. For the design, we chose a simple Pixel-art style to make the game feel mysterious and fun.
Challenges I ran into
The hardest part for us was making the robot’s descriptions balanced—not too easy, but not too hard. We had to test the logic many times to make sure the game was fair.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud of creating a smooth game loop where players can really feel like a detective. We also successfully built a working Leaderboard to track high scores.
What I learned
We learned how to manage game states in React and how to use simple words to create a logic puzzle. We also learned how to work better as a team to solve technical bugs.
What's next for Who's The Spy
Our vision is to transform the game from a clever puzzle into an intelligent, adaptive deduction game. First, we'll improve gameplay with more realistic interrogation tactics, including psychological pressure and relationship networks that make every session more complex. AI suspects with hidden alliances, secret histories, and personal motivations will make the game more engaging.
Next, we'll introduce emotional intelligence based on neural networks to recognize players’ expressions. It means the game will adapt in real time to your mental state, offering subtle guidance when you're frustrated and more bonuses when players solve the problem.
Ultimately, we're building a self-improving system where the game learns from gameplay records to generate statements tailored to individual deduction styles. Using advanced AI, "Who's The Spy?" will make more personalized scenarios that match players’ strengths.
