Inspiration
Inspired by idle games, something with basic enough gameplay but an addicting game loop. Including the hook of trying to become "The Richest" for the given season (a few months / season) to incentivize players to return and keep playing, as well as the potential to engage with other players while playing the game.
The game has been tested in Mobile, but is also fully functional in web and VR.
What it does
Creates a very simple Horizon world to serve as the backdrop for the basic gameplay, consisting of "The Button" (main source of score), "The Shop" (upgrades / multipliers to each button press), and "The Bank" (an intentional action that will Bank your current score to the leaderboard, securing your spot and eventually making you The Richest)
How we built it
Built entirely using Horizon Desktop Editor, some AI textures in the editor, as well as an AI texture / model from meshy.ai
Challenges we ran into
I am obviously not a 3d Modeler. The programming aspects should be solid, though I know aesthetically it is not necessarily the best.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning the Horizon APIs and exposure to the event based programming has been really fun. I'm actually quite inspired to make other games with other ideas, but this idea was basic enough to get a good run down of all the API capabilities!
What we learned
Horizon API, basic 3D modeling
What's next for Who's the Richest (Season 0)
I hope to expand with future seasons that add new gameplay elements. Season 1 may involve a climbing puzzle for bonuses, or future monetization, social aspects, etc.
