What is Who Fiddled?
Who Fiddled? is a daily social bluffing game on Reddit Devvit. Each round shows four answers — one truth and three lies. Lock in your guess, see the reveal, and earn points. Fool the crowd or spot who’s fiddling.
The game lives in a pinned Daily Trivia hub post on your subreddit. Every Pacific day brings a new hub and a ranked deck of 10 curated questions (Sounds Fishy–style trivia from a combinatorial prompt bank — fresh combinations daily, without spamming the sub with one post per question).
Scroll to Community for player-made questions: post one truth and three lies once per day, vote on others’ posts, and climb Today and All Time leaderboards.
Inspiration
Party games like Sounds Fishy and “two truths and a lie” — rebuilt for Reddit. The daily pinned post is the ritual; the community feed is where the weird, subreddit-specific lies live.
How I built it
- Client: React + CSS (responsive, mobile-first Reddit webview)
- Server: Hono on Devvit serverless
- Storage: Devvit Redis KV for questions, votes, decks, and leaderboards
- Daily loop: Hourly scheduler rolls over the hub and generates a new official deck at Pacific midnight
- UGC: Users submit via in-app flow; profanity filter + in-app reporting
One hub post per day holds the ranked game; community questions create separate posts when users submit.
Challenges
- Devvit constraints: All state in KV, no external APIs — designed official trivia to live in Redis instead of one Reddit post per question
- Cold start: Mod tools to pin the hub and seed demo community cards for playtesting
- Native feel: Custom cursors, reveal effects (confetti / fiddle rain), and a sticker-card UI that reads clearly in the Reddit feed on mobile and desktop
Try it
- Open r/Who_Fiddled (sort Hot)
- Open the pinned Who Fiddled? — Daily Trivia post and expand the app
- Tap Start daily trivia, play a question, check Leaderboard, then try a Community card
