Inspiration
Our inspiration was the third prompt provided by CalgaryHacks "develop a game based on the prompt impermanence
What it does
This is a Visual novel, involving choices, small minigames
How we built it
We created this project using Scenebuilder and Javafx, as well as hand drawn sprites for our animation/visuals
Challenges we ran into
challenges we ran into included many merge conflicts, and brain storming ideas. Another challenge we ran into involved scenebuilder in which the dialog boxes had limited modification options available and we were forced to cut some dialog that would have made our story more impactful.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the art and visual effects that were involved with this project. We put everything we had learned from our computer science courses in first year and tried our best to implement something that we could be proud of. we are also very proud of the story, as we spent many hours brain storming ideas.
What we learned
Through this project, we were able to review java and java fx, as well as many new features that we did not know existed prior, such as java fx animations. We also utilized our software engineering class in order to maneuver gitlab better.
What's next for Who Am I
We think that with even more time and refinements, we can truly come up with a story that has a lasting impact on the user. By using CSS we would be able to better apply different techniques for visuals as well, which would make for a more enhancing story.
