Inspiration

We noticed that pet owners often struggle to keep track of health data and schedules while relaxing at home. We wanted to transform the living room television into a functional command center for pet well-being. Our goal was to bridge the gap between digital health tracking and physical pet care routines.

What it does

WhiskerWatch allows users to monitor pet health and daily schedules through an interactive Fire TV interface. It uses intelligent agents to analyze pet data and provide actionable insights regarding nutrition and exercise. The platform provides a centralized dashboard for tracking activities and ensuring no care task is missed.

How we built it

We developed the backend using Python and deployed it via AWS App Runner for scalable compute. We integrated Amazon Bedrock to handle generative AI tasks and CrewAI to orchestrate complex pet-care workflows. The frontend was built specifically for Amazon Fire TV to ensure a seamless viewing experience.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in synchronizing real-time data between the AI agents and the Fire TV interface. Optimizing the CrewAI agents to provide concise responses required significant tuning of our prompt logic. We also had to ensure the UI remained accessible and navigable using only a Fire TV remote control.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully integrating a multi-agent system into a television-based environment. Achieving a responsive layout that feels native on Fire TV was a major win for our team. The performance of Amazon Bedrock for pet-related reasoning exceeded our initial expectations.

What we learned

We learned a lot about orchestrating autonomous agents for specific niche domains like veterinary care. We also gained deep insights into the unique design constraints of large-screen interfaces on Fire TV. The experience deepened our understanding of AWS App Runner for managing container-based Python applications.

What's next for WhiskerWatch

We plan to integrate real-time video feed analysis from pet cameras directly into the Fire TV dashboard. We also hope to expand the agent library to include specialized behavior training advice modules. Our vision is to make WhiskerWatch the ultimate companion for modern pet owners.
