Inspiration

Get ready to hear about my exciting journey into the world of coding! As a beginner, I started with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in my school's computer science class. While I enjoyed learning all about programming, I found myself particularly drawn to building websites. So, when it came to this project, I knew exactly what I wanted to do - create a responsive website that would really showcase my skills. As a novice, I knew that this would be a real challenge for me, especially with all the cool animations and design elements out there. But I was determined to learn something new and take on this challenge head-on. To make things even more exciting, the theme for this project was "whiskered animals" - a topic that's close to my heart. I have a soft spot for cats because of their companionship and their ability to relax us with their calm demeanor. And that's when inspiration struck - why not combine my love for cats with my passion for web design and create a responsive website all about these amazing creatures? Trust me, this hackathon has taught me so much about coding and I am thrilled to present my responsive web design on the theme of cats!

My website also features cats that are currently up for adoption, complete with their stories, genders, ages, and more. If you're interested in adopting one of these furry friends, simply click on "Learn More," and you'll be directed to another site with all the details. And if you have any questions about cats, don't worry - my website has got you covered! Just type in your question, and it will take you straight to Google, so you can find the answers you need. Best of all, everything on my website is designed to be easy to use and navigate, so you can enjoy all the features without any complications. So what are you waiting for? How we built it

I built the site with the use of three programming languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. (A majority of the site is using HTML and CSS, with little use of JS).

Challenges we ran into

A challenge that I ran into was with the "popular types" section. At one point, the curtain would not fall down when you hovered over it and the images were distorted. That part alone took more than an hour to complete!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What I am proud of is the search bar. This way the user will receive accurate information on any questions that may have beyond what my site will provide them.

What we learned

I learned that it is important to be patient when building a website and experimenting with different animations. There were times that I almost gave up because a certain feature did not work, but with enough determination, I pushed through it and identified the errors.

What's next for Whisker Friends

This website has thought me a lot about programming languages and challenged. Keeping this in mind, I hope to accomplish more in the future and increase my understanding of computer science. Thank you for this opportunity!
