Inspiration

Eco-G was inspired by the fact that there is a greater need for environmental awareness and education in today’s society. With regards to the increasing consideration of sustainability and human impact on the planet, it is important to find interactive methods of educating individuals about these issues. This explains why Eco-G seeks to blend entertainment with academic learning so as to offer gamers with an enjoyable way of understanding eco-friendly practices and how they help preserve our surroundings.

What it does

Sustainability awareness is facilitated by Eco-G, a multiplayer game. Earn scores by quickly making choices and learn about environmental issues such as tree conservation, water conserving, clean energy and reusing. The game comes with different levels which stress on distinct aspects of sustainability and it also has both Easy and Hard modes to accommodate players of all levels.

In Easy Mode, players must complete the levels within a brief period and collect points by taking positive items associated with environment conservation. In this mode there are no minus points to discourage players from focusing on collecting positives alone.

In Hard Mode, players have a more difficult task of timing their collection of positive objects while avoiding those that are negative. Negative ones decrease points; thus challenging gamers to think so as to push them closer to their opponent. This game goes up one notch in terms of competitiveness and complexity, forcing the player to balance risk and reward in order to achieve the highest possible scores.

How we built it

Planning: - Brainstorming the game type. - Establishing game objectives. - Designing the reward structure. - Selecting the UI theme.

Execution: - Assigning tasks for UI and logic development. - Finding perfect UI assets. - Regular sync-ups to monitor progress and merge work efficiently. - Conducting on-call coding sessions for rapid development. -Testing across various devices for compatibility and performance.

Challenges we ran into

We wanted to create an ecological game. So, we needed a game that was neutral but fun. Of course, it could not be a racing or running game or one of those killing and shooting violent games. By now, one idea has been found that can meet all these criteria successfully. It must be something skill-based that would grow in time. And the user has to keep it in mind while playing

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We only saw this post on February 20th, we were late. Five days was all it took to get over the idea. This is a game that we are proud of for making within such little time. It is of importance that we can make a game completed with the same purpose. As a team in FluxGen, a sustainability focused organization, we are glad to have taken this step and done some bit in sustainable education saving our mother nature.

What we learned

We acquired good knowledge in problem solving during the development of Eco-G by addressing challenges properly, having a clear vision and setting realistic goals. It taught us about storytelling’s role in immersing players in game and conveying meaningful messages among others by creating an exciting narrative for the game. Furthermore, we developed our talents on how to plan and allocate duties thus ensuring efficient management of projects with timely delivery. These lessons have provided us with insight into handling future projects effectively and with confidence.

What's next for ECO-G

Moving forward, the next step for Eco-G involves transitioning from its prototype stage to a more polished version (V2) with a cohesive and engaging design theme. This will include refining the visual aesthetics, user interface, and overall user experience to enhance immersion and enjoyment. Additionally, we plan to expand the game with additional levels and content, focusing on providing users with more comprehensive knowledge about sustainability practices and their impact on the environment. By concentrating on improving educational elements and gameplay mechanics, we aim to create an even more impactful and rewarding experience for players while promoting awareness and action towards sustainability.
