"Four Tires and One Lie" is inspired by a campus urban legend that has circulated for decades in various countries—the story of four students who try to trick a lecturer by claiming a flat tire. This simple story is always engaging because it combines humor, suspense, and a moral message that is highly relevant to anyone, especially in academic settings.
In this adaptation, I wanted to bring this classic tale to a more modern and cinematic realm. I imagined how a story usually told by word of mouth could come to life through visuals, emotions, and more human characters. I wanted to capture moments close to student life: academic exhaustion, the urge to have fun, the panic of making a mistake, and the awkwardness of having to deal with the consequences.
What drew me to this story was its powerful irony: a small lie can collapse with just one simple question. Beneath the humor and twists, the film speaks of responsibility, honesty, and how life always finds a way to test our character.
I made this film to remind us that the truth is never complicated—we are the ones who often complicate it. And through its warm visual approach, light rhythm, and relatable characters, I hope audiences will smile, be surprised, and be touched by the film's simple message.
