Inspiration
The average American gets less than 14 days of vacation per year. Most of the time, they just go to the same places as everyone else. It's not fun, it's not unique, it's not creative. I started this to help people live a more interesting life.
What it does
It was a surprise travel agency. Someone fills out our questionnaire on the website (whereto.global/book), And then we plan the trip of a lifetime specific to their preferences and desires.
How we built it
I used Bolt.new to create the entire website complete with a robust questionnaire. 95% of the work that was done was inside of Bolt. I also used ChatGPT to create me a very nice image and Claude to rewrite some of the copy.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out the logistics and planning for each individual person who fills out the questionnaire is quite time-consuming and difficult. We really want everyone's trip and the proposal to be extremely custom and specific to them and their desires. So having it incredibly customized (without giving away the surprise) to each person has been the hardest challenge by far.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We've already gotten five leads who completed the questionnaire and we created a unique proposal for each of them! (example: whereto.global/amber-proposal)
What we learned
Originally, I was trying to build a questionnaire like this inside of Shopify, and I very quickly learned that it is almost impossible to build a high-end web custom questionnaire (and other pages) without using Bolt.new. I do not know how to code. So a lot of these things were previously impossible to me until I started using Bolt.
I've also been learning from the feedback of users, that the longer the questionnaire and the more specific it feels to the person, the better. This is why we have a dynamic questionnaire. When someone selects 1 particular answer vs another answer, the next questions change to be as specific to the customer as possible. This way, when the person fills it out, it feels like the 1st part of their surprise trip.
What's next for Where To
We are going to figure out how to grow on social media and use organic content to help American's live a more interesting life. Also, we're going to have a whole process for teasing and making the customer very interested in where they're going without giving the surprise away. The mystery will be a fun aspect of this service!
