Inspiration
I was creating a musical composition for my animated film about two boys growing up in different worlds: one in the city, the other by the sea. The story was inspired by my own son, who was born in the city and lived amidst traffic, and then moved to the sea, discovering freedom. I reflected on how people can live on the same planet but experience entirely different worlds.
While working on the music in Suno AI, I produced several versions I really liked. One rock-style track didn’t fit the animated project, so I decided to create a separate music video for it - inspired by the golden era of music videos from the 90s and early 2000s, blending cinematic storytelling and intrigue.
What it does
Where Secrets Sleep is an AI-generated music video that follows the lives of two boys growing into men along parallel paths. One grows up in the city, leaves on his motorcycle in search of a new life, meets a delivery girl, finds a house on a hill, and starts a new chapter with her.
The other grows up by the sea, dreaming of building the fastest sports boat. We see him designing, constructing, and eventually setting a speed record.
The video concludes with both men chasing their passions - one riding a boat across the sea, the other on a motorcycle along the coast with his partner - showing that life offers different stories, paths, and choices, and each person can define their own journey.
How we built it
To bring Where Secrets Sleep to life, I first designed all visual scenes in Midjourney, creating the city, coastal landscapes, motorcycles, boats, and characters at different ages. I refined the images further in Photoshop to enhance detail and maintain consistency across frames.
I used KlingAI to animate the scenes, giving motion to the characters, vehicles, and environment while preserving the cinematic flow. The soundtrack was created in Suno AI, capturing the mood of each stage in the story, from childhood to adulthood. Finally, everything was assembled in CapCut, where I structured the video, applied transitions, and ensured a seamless storytelling rhythm.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was maintaining character consistency over multiple life stages making sure the boys felt like the same people as they grew from children to adults. Another difficulty was balancing realism and cinematic style: the city, coast, and vehicles needed to feel tangible, but still visually compelling and expressive for storytelling. It was also particularly challenging to achieve correct movements and interactions - riding the motorcycle, repairing the house, capturing facial expressions in moments with other characters, and moving the camera in the right direction and angle to convey the story effectively. Technical consistency across AI-generated frames lighting, perspective, and color-required multiple iterations. Animating complex scenes like the speedboat racing across the water or the motorcycle along the coast also took careful planning to keep motion smooth and believable.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud to have created a fully AI-driven music video that tells a rich, emotional story across time and space. The project demonstrates that AI tools can be used to blend cinematic storytelling, character development, and music, producing a short film experience rather than a simple animation. I am especially proud that the video allows viewers to explore parallel lives and choices visually and emotionally, showing that life has many paths and each person can create their own story. The combination of Midjourney, Photoshop, KlingAI, Suno AI, and CapCut allowed us to craft a cohesive, cinematic, and emotionally resonant narrative.
What we learned
This project taught me a lot about working with realistic human characters. Unlike cartoon-style animations, these characters had to feel like real people - expressive, relatable, and grounded without hiding behind exaggerated or stylized features.
It was also my first experience creating a full-length short film of 3 minutes and 28 seconds, which required careful planning of the story, pacing, and transitions between scenes. I learned the importance of thinking through the narrative flow and making sure each moment connects smoothly to the next.
One challenge I faced was that the music initially felt separate from the visuals. This led me to the idea of introducing a musician with a guitar who guides the story, bridging the music and imagery into a cohesive storytelling experience.
What's next for Where secrets sleep| Original Music Video Story
I want to experiment further with integrating music and visuals, creating even more immersive storytelling experiences where the musician or soundtrack interacts with the narrative. I see this as a way to bring cinematic storytelling into the music industry, where visuals, narrative, and music work together seamlessly. This technology can empower independent musicians to express their vision, experiment with styles, and connect with audiences in new, creative ways.
Finally, I hope to share the project with a wider audience through online platforms or festivals inspiring viewers to reflect on life’s choices, parallel stories, and the beauty of personal journeys.
