I was motivated by the scenario of wanting to know where someone is without bothering them. (ex: Have you left the store yet? -or- Are you still at work?) Without making someone feel rushed or bothered, I wanted to be able to quickly and easily find out where they were.
The problem is the existing apps either polled for position throughout the day (killing the battery!) or were operated by a text message as a trigger. (which still notified the other person that you were looking for them and could be distracting/annoying)
"Where Are You" functions silently consuming push notifications as the triggers. It allows people who have "friended" each other in the app to easily find out each other's location without being intrusive. It's extremely battery efficient because gps is only activated for a few moments right when someone asks for a location.
It is currently only released on Android but an iOS version is slated for the future.
